Matias Ureta
Company Director
Senior Physiotherapist - MSK
Matias was born in Santiago, Chile but arrived in New Zealand in 1987 where he grew up in Wellington before joining the New Zealand Army in 2002 and finally ending up in Auckland 2009. Matias has been practicing physiotherapy for over 10 years He founded Viva Physiotherapy in 2016 out of a room at The Doctors, Golf Rd where his wife was practicing as a GP. Since then Viva moved and returned to establish itself as a allied health clinic providing a more holistic approach to clients recovery.
Prior to qualifying as a physiotherapist, Matias was a member of the New Zealand Army Medical Corps where he was awarded a special Service medal for his deployment to Banda Aceh post 2004 Boxing day Tsunami.
Amelia Day
Practice Manager/ Receptionist
Amelia is our administrative genius. She is a busy Mum of 2, a teenager and a young lad who keeps her on her toes. She is a fully qualified teacher who decided on a change in career after managing, supervising, mentoring and being a support worker in the world of Early Childhood for many years. Amelia is a member of a local School Board, she sews costumes in her spare time, likes to help in the community where possible, decided to go to night classes to learn NZSL and most recently became a co-team leader for St John FED @ Waitakere Hospital. Amelia brings with her a wealth of knowledge, gusto and eagerness to make things welcoming, calm/crazy and fun.
You’ll find Amelia behind the desk, happy to help you and she is up for a good conversation if you are...don't say we didn't warn you.

Passionate about enhancing the health and well-being of his clients, Ryan is a dedicated physiotherapist with a love for sports and adventure. When he’s not in the clinic, you can find him on the football field or hitting the trails on his dirt bike. As a sports enthusiast, Ryan understands the importance of staying active and overcoming obstacles. Whether you're recovering from an injury or striving to optimise your performance, Ryan is here to provide personalised care using evidence-based practices tailored to your needs, so you can get back to doing the things you love with confidence.
Kohei Oyama
Acupuncturist
Kohei is a loving husband and soon to be father for the first time (so exciting). Having been here at Viva for a few years now, Kohei joined us after traveling the world on cruise ships to over 60 countries, sharing his acupuncture skills with so many people he couldn't count them all. Kohei is orginially from Japan and hopes to one day call NZ home. Kohei has bought all of his passion and drive for helping his clients alleviate pain, encouraging healing and helping to maintain overall positive wellbeing. Acupuncture includes - needles, cupping, massage therapy, moxibustion and so much more on offer when you have a wisdom filled appointment with Kohei.
Kohei is a fun loving, sports enjoying, friendly and kind person who loves what he does as helping people feel good is a huge part of who Kohei is.
Chris Browne
Contracting Physiotherapist - MSK
Chris is a proud Cornwallis local who embraces all things West Auckland - from the beach and bush to fishing, camping, and exploring the country in his vintage 4x4. He understands how disruptive injury can be, and how quickly it can interfere with work, sport, and the things that matter most. Chris is driven to help you regain confidence in your body so you can move well and live at your best.
Outside the clinic, Chris’ passion for mentorship and community is reflected in his involvement with his local youth group and his time in the gym, where he continues to push his own development through strength training. This carries through into his work as a physiotherapist: supportive, patient, committed to ongoing improvement, and focused on the bigger picture of recovery.
With long-standing ties to Northland, Chris completed his physiotherapy training from Kaitaia through to Auckland, shaping a broad, flexible, and down-to-earth approach to care. Now with years of experience practicing at Viva, Chris blends hands-on pain relief, empowering education, and achievable, effective exercise to support your rehabilitation, fitness, and even life goals - for genuinely transformative results.
Nikki
Receptionist - Part time
Nikki is our awesome part time receptionist who you'll spot around when Amelia isn't here. Full time studying in Business finds Nikki isn't here too often but, when she is, she will have a smile to greet you and do her best to help with whatever you need.
Rosebud
Furball & 'pro PT Assistant'
Rosebud is our resident therapy friend. She is very calm, placid and friendly. Rosebud is in the clinic most Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Rosebud will come say hello, might give you a sniff and will happily just be in the reception area awaiting pats if your willing. Rosebud doesn't go into clinic rooms, she doesn't bark and if for any reason you are feeling uncomfortable with her just let us know as she has a bed she will stay in.
Your comfort is important to us so please be sure to let us know if you want a time when Rosebud isn't here.
Rosebud likes treats, pats, scratches, belly rubs, food, toys and more. Rosebud has some cool tricks so ask us and we can help her to share her skills with you.
